For writing, a general assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft 365 Copilot. For live flight quotes, a tool that connects that assistant to your own GDS contract. For itineraries and client records, an advisor platform with AI built in.
  - q: Can ChatGPT or Claude quote live flight prices?
a: Not on their own. A plain chat has no access to your GDS fares. They can quote live prices only when connected to a tool that searches your contract, for example through an MCP server such as GateRoam for Amadeus and Travelport+ (Galileo).
  - q: Which AI tools can book flights?
a: A few. LetsFG books for travellers after they approve by email, Travel Code manages bookings on its corporate platform, TTS says its WebAgent assistant books nothing without the agent's approval, and GateRoam holds bookings in Amadeus or Travelport+ on the agency's own contract after the agent's yes.
  - q: Are the GDSs building their own AI tools?
a: Yes. Sabre launched an MCP server in September 2025, Amadeus announced a Claude toolkit and a Claude Cowork plugin with Anthropic in September 2026, and Travelport is building an MCP layer with Cognizant and Anthropic.
  - q: Is GateRoam on this list because it's yours?
a: GateRoam is our product, and we say so. It has one entry, in the group where it belongs, with what it does and what it doesn't. Every other tool is described from its own pages, linked and dated.
---

**There is no single best AI tool for travel agents: there's a best tool for each job.** For writing, a general
assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft 365 Copilot. For live flight quotes, a tool that connects that
assistant to your own GDS contract. For itineraries and client records, an advisor platform with AI built in.
Below are the tools worth knowing in October 2026, grouped by job, each described from its own pages with a link.

*GateRoam is our product. It has one entry, in the group where it belongs, with what it does and what it doesn't.*

## The list at a glance

| Tool | What it does for an agent | Works in | Whose content | Can it book? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini | Writing, reading, research; outside tools through MCP | Their own apps | Only what you connect | Only through connected tools |
| GateRoam | Flight search, pricing, client offers and holds | Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot | Your agency's Amadeus contract (classic and NDC) or Travelport+ (Galileo) contract | Holds, after the agent's yes |
| TTS WebAgent AI Assistant | Turns client emails into quotes to approve | TTS WebAgent | Your Travelport GDS | Not without the agent's approval |
| TBO Connectors | Hotel search and ready-made quotes | Claude, ChatGPT | TBO's hotels | Not stated |
| Tern | Inbox, itineraries, client emails | Its own app | Your trips | Sends bookings to your agency |
| TravelJoy, Travefy, Safari Portal | Itineraries and proposals | Their own apps | Your trips | No |
| TobyAI | Itineraries, client emails, social posts | Its own app | — | No |
| Travel Code | Corporate travel with an MCP server | Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and others | Travel Code's | Manages bookings |
| LetsFG | Travellers search and book through their AI | Claude, ChatGPT and others | Its own search | Yes, after the traveller approves |
| Lambus | Trip planning in a chat | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini | Your trip | No |

## General AI assistants: writing, reading and research

Every agent should have one of these. They draft client emails, turn notes into itineraries, translate, and
explain fare rules or visa rules in plain words (check the official source). None of them can see your GDS fares
on its own, but all four can now use outside tools:

- **ChatGPT** can add custom MCP servers as plugins, and OpenAI notes that "Account and workspace policies apply to
adding and using custom MCP servers"
  ([OpenAI](https://developers.openai.com/apps-sdk/deploy/connect-chatgpt)).
  More: [ChatGPT for travel agents](/blog/chatgpt-for-travel-agents).
- **Claude** has custom connectors on every plan, including Free (one connector), and Projects for your agency's
  house style and supplier notes
  ([Claude help center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-getting-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp)).
  More: [Claude for travel agents](/blog/claude-for-travel-agents).
- **Microsoft 365 Copilot** reaches outside systems through agents built in Copilot Studio: "There are two ways to
connect your agent to an MCP server in Copilot Studio"
  ([Microsoft Learn](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/mcp-add-existing-server-to-agent)).
The right choice if your agency already works in Outlook and Teams.
- **Google Gemini** can connect custom apps too, but for now only on a personal Google account, in the US, in
English: "this feature isn't available if you sign in with a work or school Google Account"
  ([Gemini Apps Help](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/17209137)).

## Flight quotes and bookings on your own GDS contract

This is the gap most "best AI tools" lists skip. A plain chat answers from public web pages, not from your
office's fares. These tools put your own GDS contract behind the assistant or the email inbox:

- **GateRoam** (ours) is an MCP server for Amadeus and Travelport+ (Galileo). In Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365
Copilot, agents search and price flights on the agency's own Amadeus Enterprise or Quick Connect keys (classic and
Amadeus NDC fares) or its own Travelport TripServices access, compare fare families and seats, and turn the picks
into a branded client offer (web page and PDF). An agency with both systems gets one search across the two. It
also prices trips as separate tickets when that's cheaper, and answers "how do I … in Amadeus?" or "… in Galileo?"
from its [Amadeus guide](/amadeus-guide) and [Galileo guide](/galileo-guide). **It also holds bookings in Amadeus
and Travelport+**: a colleague holds the option the client picked from the app, or the AI after the agent's yes,
once an admin has switched holding on. Free during early access. [How it connects](/connect-ai) ·
  [Travelport+ (Galileo)](/integrations/travelport).
- **TTS WebAgent AI Assistant.** TTS WebAgent is a booking tool "only available to travel agents who use Travelport
GDS" ([TTS](https://www.tts.com/tts-webagent/)). Its AI assistant reads client emails and prepares the quote or
reply, and TTS says "Nothing is booked, ticketed or canceled without agent approval"
([TTS](https://www.tts.com/webagent-assistant/)). On 11 October 2026 the product page marked it "Soon", as part
of TTS's Agent Suite, so ask TTS when it's available.
- **Amadeus Cowork plugin for Claude.** Announced by Amadeus and Anthropic on 3 September 2026, with a waitlist for
the developer toolkit and no date or terms for the plugin yet. The details:
[Amadeus and Anthropic: what agencies can use in Claude now](/blog/amadeus-anthropic-claude-travel-agencies).

## Hotels and packages in your AI assistant

- **TBO Connectors** bring TBO's hotel inventory into Claude and ChatGPT: "TBO returns live hotels, rates, and
availability", and "Pick a hotel, the quote's already built. Send it to your client"
([TBO](https://www.tbo.com/tbo-connectors)). You sign in with your TBO login. The page covers hotels, not flights,
and doesn't say whether you can book from the chat.

## Itineraries, proposals and client records

Advisor platforms with AI built in. They work on your trips and your clients, not on live fares:

- **Tern** "monitors incoming email from clients and top suppliers", drafts replies "in your voice" and builds
itineraries by chat; "Nothing sends until you review and approve", and "AI features are included in the base plan
with basic usage" ([Tern](https://tern.travel/ai)). Tern's AI can also submit bookings to your agency
  ([Tern help center](https://help.tern.travel/en/articles/15373196-what-we-launched-at-the-june-2026-webinar)).
- **TravelJoy**: "Itinerary Copilot turns your trip notes into polished, professional itinerary drafts", and its
Magic Importer reads uploaded documents ([TravelJoy](https://traveljoy.com/ai.html)). 7-day free trial.
- **Travefy** lets you "Import bookings, info, photos, and more in seconds with the power of A.I."
  ([Travefy](https://travefy.com/partner/travelsavers)). 10-day free trial.
- **Safari Portal**, for tour operators, DMCs and advisors, drafts property pages, area descriptions and
itinerary introductions with AI ([Safari Portal](https://www.safariportal.app/blog/safariportalai)).
- **TobyAI** is a writing assistant that Travel Leaders Network rolled out to its advisors in December 2023, for
itineraries, agent bios, client emails and social posts
  ([TravelPulse](https://www.travelpulse.com/news/agents/travel-leaders-network-partners-to-provide-tobyai-for-travel-advisors)).

## AI booking agents you'll hear about

These come up in the same searches, but they are built for companies or travellers, not for an agency quoting
on its own contract:

- **Travel Code** is a corporate travel platform with a hosted MCP server: "Search for flights, hotels, and manage
bookings with AI", in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor and others ([Travel Code](https://travel-code.com/mcp)). It
works on Travel Code's own platform and content, not on an agency's GDS contract.
- **LetsFG** lets travellers search and book flights and hotels from their own AI assistant. "Your AI can't book on
its own": LetsFG emails the traveller the flight and price with an Approve button, and "Searching is free"
  ([LetsFG](https://letsfg.co)).
- **Lambus** has an AI connector that "can update your Lambus trips as you chat", in ChatGPT (marked
experimental), Claude and Gemini ([Lambus](https://lambus.com/ai-connector)). It plans trips; it doesn't
  quote fares.

GateRoam side by side with Travel Code, LetsFG and others, every fact linked: [Compare](/compare).

## What the GDSs are building

All three GDSs are moving to MCP, the standard the tools above use to talk to AI assistants:

- **Sabre** launched its MCP server in September 2025 and counts "nearly 80 customers both piloting and in full
production mode", including Flight Centre and Internova; "Sabre MCP is powering apps live inside ChatGPT and
Claude today" ([Sabre, 20 September 2026](https://www.sabre.com/resources/newsroom/mcp-is-the-new-ndc-is-this-travels-shift-to-streaming-moment/)).
It is a building block for travel companies and their developers, not a connector an agent installs.
- **Amadeus** is working with Anthropic on a Claude Code toolkit and a Claude Cowork plugin, both not generally
available yet ([Amadeus, 3 September 2026](https://amadeus.com/en/blog/articles/anthropic-trusted-travel-intelligence-ai-agents)).
- **Travelport** is rebuilding its Trip Services with Cognizant and Anthropic's Claude, "with the MCP-based
interface layer above it"; "The first customer-facing capabilities are expected to reach market this year"
  ([Travelport, 27 May 2026](https://www.travelport.com/press-releases/cognizant-anthropic-collaboration-to-power-travel-technology-ai-era)).

## How to choose

Four questions sort almost any AI tool:

1. **Whose prices does it show?** Your own GDS contract, the vendor's content, or public web prices. Only the first
gives you fares you can actually ticket.
2. **Who calculates the numbers?** Totals and travel times should come from the supplier or from code, never from
   the language model.
3. **What can it change, and who can do it?** Writing tools change nothing. For a booking tool, check who in your
agency can book and whether every booking is logged.
4. **Which assistant does your team already use?** A tool that works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot lets each
   colleague keep their own.

Before you connect anything to your contract, run through our checklist:
[What is an MCP server? Explained for travel agencies](/blog/what-is-an-mcp-server-for-travel-agencies).

## Sources

Checked on 11 October 2026.

- [OpenAI](https://developers.openai.com/apps-sdk/deploy/connect-chatgpt): connect a custom MCP server in ChatGPT
- [Claude help center](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-getting-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp): custom connectors using remote MCP
- [Microsoft Learn](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/mcp-add-existing-server-to-agent): connect a Copilot Studio agent to an MCP server
- [Gemini Apps Help](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/17209137): connect and manage custom apps
- [TTS](https://www.tts.com/tts-webagent/): TTS WebAgent; [TTS](https://www.tts.com/webagent-assistant/): WebAgent AI Assistant
- [TBO](https://www.tbo.com/tbo-connectors): TBO Connectors
- [Tern](https://tern.travel/ai): Tern AI; [Tern help center](https://help.tern.travel/en/articles/15373196-what-we-launched-at-the-june-2026-webinar): June 2026 launches
- [TravelJoy](https://traveljoy.com/ai.html), [Travefy](https://travefy.com/partner/travelsavers), [Safari Portal](https://www.safariportal.app/blog/safariportalai): AI features
- [TravelPulse](https://www.travelpulse.com/news/agents/travel-leaders-network-partners-to-provide-tobyai-for-travel-advisors): Travel Leaders Network and TobyAI
- [Travel Code](https://travel-code.com/mcp), [LetsFG](https://letsfg.co), [Lambus](https://lambus.com/ai-connector): their AI connectors
- [Sabre, 20 September 2026](https://www.sabre.com/resources/newsroom/mcp-is-the-new-ndc-is-this-travels-shift-to-streaming-moment/): MCP is the new NDC
- [Amadeus, 3 September 2026](https://amadeus.com/en/blog/articles/anthropic-trusted-travel-intelligence-ai-agents): Amadeus and Anthropic
- [Travelport, 27 May 2026](https://www.travelport.com/press-releases/cognizant-anthropic-collaboration-to-power-travel-technology-ai-era): Cognizant and Anthropic collaboration

"blog/best-ai-tools-for-travel-agents","2026-10-16","yFXLi-H7STpKIhS1x4wq5J5ic8PKMpgbjlauELyx0Gs",1792308300276]
