Expedia hotels from the Rapid API in Claude and ChatGPT

Not yet. GateRoam's connector for Expedia's Rapid API is in development: it will let an agency that is an Expedia Rapid partner search Expedia hotels from Claude or ChatGPT on its own Rapid API key and put them in the same client offer as its flights. We found no official Expedia MCP server. GateRoam already searches flights on your own Amadeus or Travelport+ contract.

What Expedia is

Expedia Group sells to travel agents in two separate ways. TAAP, the Travel Agent Affiliate Program, is a booking website where agents book Expedia hotels and earn commission. The Rapid API is Expedia Group's API for partners who build their own booking flow, covering lodging, cars, flights and activities. Only Expedia partners get Rapid access, and production follows Expedia's review of the site.

What your AI will do with Expedia

Once the connector ships. Each one becomes an MCP tool, and your admins choose who gets which, as for flights today.
  • Search hotels
Ask in plain words — a city, an area or a hotel, the dates, rooms and guests — and the AI will search the supplier on your agency's own contract and bring back the best options with the room, the meal plan and the cancellation terms.
  • Check the rate before you quote
Before an option goes to the client, the AI will ask the supplier again for the price and terms of that exact room, as GateRoam does for flights.
  • Taxes and cancellation in plain words
Taxes paid at the hotel kept apart from the price, the cancellation deadline in your agency's time zone, and non-refundable rates said clearly. Totals will be calculated in code, never by the model.
  • Hotel and flights in one offer
The hotel will go into the same branded client offer as your Amadeus or Travelport+ flights: one web page, copy-paste text and a PDF, with your fee.
  • Your controls
The owner will choose who may search hotels, and the supplier keys will stay encrypted on GateRoam's servers, as for flights today.

What your agency will need

Your agency's own Expedia contract. GateRoam sells no rooms and takes no margin.
  • Expedia partner status
Expedia Group gives Rapid API access to partners only: you apply on Expedia's partner site. TAAP, its booking website for agents, is a separate programme.
  • A Rapid API key and shared secret
From Expedia's partner portal. A new key stays in development mode, on the test environment, until Expedia's site review lets it into production.

What shapes the Expedia connector

  • Every request is signed with the API key, the shared secret and the time, and a development key is refused on production until Expedia's review.
  • The cancellation policy, or a non-refundable label, is shown before the traveller confirms, and a non-refundable flag overrides every other policy detail.
  • The total is shown exactly as the API gives it, with no rounding or currency conversion, and taxes and fees as one line; who takes the payment (Expedia, or the property at the stay) is part of the rate.
  • Check-in and special instructions from Expedia's content are shown to the traveller.

Flights today, hotels next

GateRoam already searches and prices flights on your agency's own Amadeus or Travelport+ (Galileo) contract, from Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot, and turns them into a branded client offer. The hotel goes into the same offer once its connector ships.
