Custom travel API connectors for Claude and ChatGPT
GateRoam connects AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT to travel supplier APIs. Amadeus is our first connector, not our last. Our goal is many suppliers behind one set of tools, one set of owner controls and one client offer. What is a GateRoam connector?
A connector is the part of GateRoam that talks to one supplier API. It:
- calls the supplier with your agency's own credentials, never ours;
- turns the API into operations your AI assistant can use, such as "search flights" or "price this offer";
- lets the agency owner switch each operation on or off. Operations that are off are not shown to the AI at all.
One note on words: in Claude, "Add custom connector" is the setting you use to add GateRoam itself (how to connect). A GateRoam connector sits one step further along, between GateRoam and your supplier.
Why isn't GateRoam just for Amadeus?
Because agencies don't work with one source. A typical agency quotes from a GDS, books some airlines direct, buys through a consolidator, adds hotels and transfers from other suppliers, and keeps it all in its own booking or back-office system.
If every source needs its own tool, the AI can only ever see part of the trip. With one gateway and many connectors, you ask once in the chat, the AI searches the suppliers you've switched on, and the answer ends up in one client offer.
What stays the same for every connector?
Every connector plugs into the same GateRoam core. A new supplier doesn't mean new rules to learn:

Which APIs can be connected?
Most travel APIs an agency uses can become a connector:
- Flights: GDS, airline direct and consolidator APIs.
- Hotels: bed banks and hotel suppliers.
- Transfers and activities: ground services and experiences.
- Your own systems: booking, CRM or back-office software your agency already runs.
Two things are needed: a documented API, and your agency's access to it (a contract, account or API keys). Send us what you have. We read the documentation and tell you honestly whether it fits.
How do you request a custom connector?
- Contact us with the supplier or system, and what you want the AI to do with it: search, price, check availability, look up bookings. Contact us.
- We check the API documentation and your access, and tell you what's possible.
- We build it as a GateRoam connector and test it on your credentials, in the supplier's test environment first when it has one.
- You switch on the operations you want, and your AI assistant can use them in the same chat as Amadeus.
