When
The booking has children or infants, or a passenger qualifies for a discount (youth, senior), and each must be priced with the right fare.
Check first
Names carry the type: child (CHD/01JAN20), infant on an adult (INF/…/date), infant with seat
(INS), youth (YTH) (see Name element — adults, children, infants and passenger types). Amadeus prices each type from the name.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | FXP | Prices every passenger by their name type. | Usually enough when names are typed. |
| 2 | FXP/P2/RCH | Prices passenger 2 as a child. | Force a type when the name has none. |
| 3 | FXP/INF · FXP/PAX | Prices only the infants · only the non-infants. | Separate TSTs for infants. |
| 4 | FXP/P1/RCH//P2/RZZ//P3/RCD | Different discount per passenger. | Mixed family. |
| 5 | FXP/RCH*ZZ*CD | Several discount codes (up to six). | Let Amadeus pick the applicable one. |
| 6 | FD ZZ/P2 · FD IN02MAR25/P3 | Fare discount element with type / date of birth. | Keeps the discount in the PNR for ticketing. |
Some discount codes: CH child · IN infant · ZZ youth · YS senior · ZS
student and youth · MIL military · GRP group · IT / GIT inclusive tour.

TQT shows one TST per passenger type, each with its own fare basis (child fares often end in a
child code).
Traps
- A lap infant pays its own (reduced) infant fare and taxes, on its own TST and its own ticket.
- A child's age is on the date of travel; a child turning 12 during the trip may need an adult fare on the return — check the rules.
- Discounts exist only where the airline files them; if none applies, Amadeus prices the normal fare.
