Amadeus training with AI: onboarding and support for agents

GateRoam has an Amadeus guide your AI assistant can search: learn Amadeus step by step and get answers on tickets, voids and refunds. No API needed.
By GateRoam team Updated

GateRoam has provider guides, starting with Amadeus. These are short, step-by-step guides written from each provider's official documentation. Your AI assistant searches them when you ask a question. New agents use them to learn Amadeus step by step, and experienced agents get quick answers on tickets, voids, refunds and EMDs. The guides never call the provider's API, so you don't need an API contract to use them. They're free, like the rest of GateRoam.

What problem do provider guides solve?

Learning a GDS is slow. The Amadeus manuals are long, cryptic entries are hard to remember, and the same questions come up again and again:

  • New agents need weeks before they can work alone. Until then, every booking needs a second pair of eyes.
  • Senior agents get interrupted all day with "how do I…" questions.
  • Rare cases, like a reissue after a date change, a refund with an EMD or a void after midnight, are where mistakes happen. In ticketing, a mistake usually costs money.

An AI assistant can explain all of this in plain language, but only if it answers from the right documentation instead of from memory. That's what provider guides are for.

How do provider guides work?

Each guide covers one situation, such as "void a ticket issued today" or "reissue after a date change". Every guide has the same parts:

PartWhat it tells you
WhenThe situation in plain words, so you can check it's yours
Check firstWhat must be true before you start
StepsEach entry, what it does, and why
Check it workedThe display that proves it worked
TrapsCommon mistakes, and what the error messages mean
Learn moreThe next guides to read
SourcesThe pages of the provider's manuals the guide is based on

When you ask a question, your AI assistant searches the guides, reads the one to three that fit, and answers in your own language. It never gives an entry from memory. Guides are grouped by level: basic for the first week, intermediate for the first month, and advanced for rare cases and senior agents.

How does onboarding with AI work?

Ask your assistant to start onboarding, and it takes you through the guides as lessons, in order. Each lesson:

  1. Explains the situation and why it matters.
  2. Walks through the steps, one entry at a time, with the reason for each.
  3. Gives you an exercise to do in the provider's training environment, never in your live office.
  4. Checks your work. You paste the terminal response, and the AI compares it with the guide and tells you what's right and what to fix.

Each module ends with a few self-check questions, then the assistant names the next module.

What can you ask?

Write the way you'd ask a senior colleague:

How do I void a ticket I issued today?

What's the difference between FXP and FXB?

The client changed the date. Do I reissue or refund?

Start my Amadeus onboarding, module 1.

Do you need an API contract to use the guides?

No. The guides never call Amadeus. That makes them useful for agencies that work in the Amadeus terminal and don't have API access, and for agents who book by hand even when the agency has API access.

Live flight search, pricing and client offers are a different part of GateRoam. They run on your agency's own Amadeus Enterprise or Quick Connect keys. See how to connect Claude or ChatGPT, or read Amadeus Self-Service shutdown: keep quoting flights with AI if you lost your Self-Service keys.

Can you trust an AI with booking-system steps?

Only if it's built to be checked. Provider guides are:

  • Sourced. Every guide names the manual pages it's based on, so you can open the manual and check.
  • Marked when unverified. A guide starts as "not verified" until its entries have been run in the training environment. Until then, the AI tells you so and suggests trying it there first.
  • Honest about gaps. If no guide covers your question, the AI says so instead of guessing.
  • Kept out of live tests. The AI never tells you to end a booking or issue a ticket "as a test" in your live office.

Anything that moves money through GateRoam itself always needs a human's approval. More on that: Security.

Which providers get guides?

Amadeus first. After that, each provider we add a connector for gets its own guide, built the same way from its own documentation. If your agency needs a guide or a connector for another provider, read Custom travel API connectors for Claude and ChatGPT or contact us.

When can you use provider guides?

The Amadeus guide is available now. We first built this approach for a travel company we build systems for, and brought it to GateRoam for every agency. To use it:

  1. Create a free account and your agency.
  2. Connect Claude or ChatGPT under Settings → AI connections. Every colleague connects their own assistant: how to connect.
  3. Ask your question, or ask to start onboarding.

Most guides are still marked "not verified": their entries haven't yet been run in the training environment. Your assistant tells you when that's the case. Everything GateRoam does today is on Features.
