When
The destination or airline requires Advance Passenger Information (USA, Canada, UK and many others), or the airline asks for passport data before departure.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | SR DOCS BA HK1-P-SVN-PA1234567-SVN-12MAR85-F-09SEP31-NOVAK-ANA-MARIJA/P1 | Passport data for passenger 1 to British Airways. | Mandatory APIS for many routes. |
| 2 | SR DOCS BA HK1-----12MAR85-F--NOVAK-ANA/P1 | Partial data: only date of birth, gender, name. | Some airlines need only these at booking (Secure Flight). |
| 3 | SR DOCO BA HK1-MARIBOR SVN-V-K0045821-LJUBLJANA SVN-02FEB26-USA/P1/S3 | Visa (secondary document). | When the destination checks the visa. |
| 4 | SR DOCA BA HK1-D-USA-88 BAY STREET-SAN FRANCISCO-CA-94133/P1/S3 | Address: D destination, R residence. | USA asks for the first address in the country. |
How to read a DOCS (step 1), fields separated by -: document type (P passport) · issuing
country · document number · nationality · date of birth · gender (M, F, MI/FI infant,
U, X) · expiry date · surname · first name · middle name.

Check it worked
RTG shows the SSR DOCS for each passenger (and for an infant, its own DOCS with MI/FI).
Traps
- The name in DOCS must match the passport and the name element — a mismatch can stop check-in.
- Dates are
DDMMMYY(12MAR85); a wrong expiry or a passport expiring during the trip will be refused at the airport — check Timatic for validity rules (Visa, passport and health rules (Timatic)). - Enter DOCS per passenger (
/P1) and, for an infant, with the infant gender code. - Passport data are personal data — enter only what the trip needs.
