When
An existing EMD (e.g. an advance payment) must be exchanged for a new one with a different value — possible only if the service's rules say EXCHANGEABLE: YES.

| 4 | TMI/M2/RHKD1000/CV-1500/W1500 | New fare R, coupon value, additional collection W. | |

| 6 | TMI/FP-O/CASH+/CASH | Old and new form of payment. | |
| 7 | FO* then TMI/FO-<the FO text> | Original issue of the old EMD. | Links old and new. |
| 8 | TTM/M2 | Issues the new EMD. | |
| 9 | EWD/O* | Shows the old EMD from the new one (coupon E). | Check. |
Amadeus Service Changer does it automatically where available: FXF/EMD, FXQ/EMD.
Traps
- Non-exchangeable EMDs (most seats and bags) cannot be reissued by the agency.
