How do I see or exempt taxes in Galileo?

F*Q shows each tax of the last quote, FQTDD explains every tax (informative, not filed), FQTE-00 quotes taxes only and FQTE-AT* leaves out all Austrian taxes. Exempt only taxes the passenger really does not owe.

When

The client asks what the taxes are, a tax looks wrong, a passenger is exempt from a tax, or you need the tax amount alone. A quote with no taxes at all is for the rare case where none apply, such as a seat bought for cabin baggage.

Check first

  • A plain FQ assumes nobody is exempt from any ticketable tax.
  • Know whether you only want to see taxes (informative) or to change what is filed (exemption).

Steps

5FQTE-AT*Quote without any Austrian taxes. The passenger is exempt from that country's taxes.

7FTAX · FTAX-SICountries with tax information · tax information for Slovenia.Look up what a tax code is and when it applies.

Check it worked

The tax description explains each tax code of the quote. After an exemption, F*Q no longer shows the exempted tax, and the filed fare carries the lower total.

Traps

  • The tax description (TDD) quote is not filed. Price again with FQ to store the fare. TDD cannot be combined with the taxes-only modifier TE-00.
  • Taxes-only answers show an amount above the tax list that is neither the fare nor the tax total — ignore it.
  • Exempt a tax only when the passenger really does not owe it. If you are not sure, ask the airline or the help desk first.
  • YQ and YR are not government taxes: the airline adds them itself (fuel or other surcharges), and they can depend on cabin, route and airline. A YQ or YR that is wrong or missing is reported to the Travelport help desk (see When to contact the Travelport help desk and what to give them).
  • Taxes on a historical date need the historical modifier (see Historical fare quote — the price on an earlier ticketing date).
