When
A fee or extra baggage has to be charged on a miscellaneous charges order (MCO) or an excess-baggage (XSB) element. Many airlines take such charges on an EMD instead — follow the airline's instructions first (Other charges on an EMD-S (name change, deposits, packages), Extra bags by weight or piece on an EMD-A (ASVC, XBAG)).
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | IMCM/LHFRA12MAR/EUR50/P1 | MCO element: airline, city of service, date, amount, passenger 1. | Stores the charge; a TSM is created. |
| 2 | IMCMC/LHFRA12MAR/EUR50/P1 | The same with a reason-for-issuance code (here C). | Codes differ by market and airline. |
| 3 | TMI/I? | Lists the reason-for-issuance codes (with an MCO in the PNR). | Pick the right code. |
| 4 | IMCMC/LHFRA12MAR/EUR50/*DEPOSIT/P1 | Overwrites the service description (here DEPOSIT). | Say what the charge is. |
| 5 | IMCXP/LHFRA12MAR/EUR120/P1 | Excess-baggage element with an amount. | Charge for extra baggage. |
| 6 | IMCXB/LHFRA12MAR/KG-23/P1 | Excess-baggage element with the extra weight. | Weight instead of amount. |
| 7 | 12/*NEW TEXT · 12/**-NEW TEXT | Changes the service description · the accounting text of element 12. | Correct it. |
| 8 | XE12 | Deletes element 12 and its TSM. | Remove a wrong charge. |
Check it worked
The element shows in the PNR, and TQM shows the TSM created from it.
Traps
- Deleting the element deletes its TSM — anything you added to the TSM is gone too.
- Reason-for-issuance codes and the services an airline accepts on an MCO are market and airline specific; when in doubt, ask the airline before you charge the client.
