QS97 opens the first message on queue 97, QN removes it and shows the next, QD moves it to the bottom and QI leaves. QE97 followed by MESSAGE TEXT// sends a message to your office; QE/MIA1A0980/97 to another office.

A message (not a PNR) waits in a message queue — from Amadeus, an airline or another office — or you must send one.
