Amadeus and Anthropic: what agencies can use in Claude now

Amadeus is building a Claude Code toolkit and a Claude Cowork plugin with Anthropic. What each is, who it's for, and what your agency can use today.

Amadeus is working with Anthropic on two things: a toolkit for developers in Claude Code, and a Claude Cowork plugin for travel professionals. Neither is generally available yet, and Amadeus hasn't said what they will cost or which contract they need. If your agents want to quote flights from your Amadeus contract inside Claude today, the way to do it is an MCP connector on your own keys, such as GateRoam, which also works in ChatGPT and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

What did Amadeus and Anthropic announce?

On 3 September 2026 Skift reported that "Amadeus is working with Anthropic to make flight and destination content available inside Claude Code for developers and via a potential Claude Cowork plugin for travel professionals", and that "Neither offering is generally available yet (a waitlist is open for the toolkit)" (Skift, 3 September 2026).

The announcement has two parts:

Tragento adds that Amadeus "emphasises controlled access, security mechanisms and organisational oversight" and that "The company has already completed a pilot project with Claude Enterprise" (Tragento, 4 September 2026).

The news came seven weeks after Amadeus closed its Self-Service developer portal on 17 July 2026. If you lost your Self-Service keys, read Amadeus Self-Service shutdown: what agencies can use instead.

What is Claude Cowork?

Cowork is Anthropic's tool for people who don't write code. TechCrunch described it at launch as "designed as a more accessible version of Claude Code", "Built into the Claude Desktop app" (TechCrunch, 12 January 2026). A Cowork plugin adds tools and know-how for one kind of work, so an Amadeus plugin would bring Amadeus applications into that desktop app.

What is still open?

Most of what an agency needs to decide:

  • Terms and price. Skift notes that Amadeus "has not clarified how access or pricing will compare to the old portal or whether an enterprise contract will be required".
  • What it will do. Tragento lists the open questions as "how open such an approach will be, which functionalities will be available and under what commercial conditions".
  • Whose fares. The announcement doesn't say whether the plugin will search your own office's fares, nor whether it will work outside Claude.

Toolkit, plugin or MCP connector: which one is for you?

An MCP server is the piece that lets an AI assistant use an outside system as tools. If that's new to you, start with What is an MCP server? Explained for travel agencies, then Is there an Amadeus MCP server?.

What can your agency use in Claude today?

GateRoam is an Amadeus MCP server that runs on your agency's own contract. Once a colleague connects their assistant, they can ask in plain words and the assistant can:

  • search flights: one-way, return and multi-city, classic and Amadeus NDC fares, flexible dates, nearby airports, and the trip as separate tickets when that comes out cheaper;
  • confirm prices and compare fare families and seats per booking class;
  • give the agent the Amadeus entries to build the booking by hand;
  • turn the chosen options into a branded client offer: a web page, copy-paste text and a PDF;
  • book the option the client picks in Amadeus, on your own contract;
  • answer "how do I … in Amadeus?" from GateRoam's Amadeus guide, which needs no API keys.

Once an admin switches holding on, every colleague who connects can hold a booking in Amadeus, after saying yes to the exact summary. The agency's admins choose which tools each member gets.

How each assistant connects:

  • Claude and ChatGPT: add a custom connector with the server URL https://gateroam.com/mcp, then sign in with your GateRoam account. Step by step: How to connect Claude to Amadeus.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot connects through Copilot Studio with your agency's client ID — ask us for the setup guide.
  • Claude Code, Cursor and scripts use a personal access token.

All the options are on Connect AI.

What should you do while you wait?

  1. Ask your Amadeus account manager about the Cowork plugin: whether your office can join, and on what terms.
  2. Check which Amadeus APIs your contract includes. Enterprise and Quick Connect keys are what any connector, GateRoam included, runs on. GateRoam tests your keys and shows which APIs they cover.
  3. Start with what works now. Connecting GateRoam changes nothing in Amadeus, and you can disconnect it at any time if the plugin suits you better once it opens.

GateRoam is free during early access. Create a free account or ask for a demo on your own Amadeus keys.
