Is there an Amadeus MCP server? What it can and can't do
Not from Amadeus itself, as of October 2026. Amadeus has announced work with Anthropic on a Claude Code toolkit and a possible Claude plugin, but neither is generally available yet. The open-source Amadeus MCP servers were built on Self-Service keys, which stopped working on 17 July 2026. GateRoam is an Amadeus MCP server you can use now: it runs on your agency's own Amadeus Enterprise or Quick Connect keys and gives Claude or ChatGPT flight search, pricing and client offers as tools.
What is an Amadeus MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is "an open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems" (modelcontextprotocol.io). An MCP server is the program on the other end: it offers the AI assistant a set of tools and does the work when the assistant calls one.
An Amadeus MCP server holds your Amadeus API keys, calls Amadeus when the assistant asks, and hands back the results. The keys never go into the chat, and the assistant only sees tools such as "search flights" or "price this offer". New to MCP? Start with What is an MCP server? Explained for travel agencies.
What did Amadeus announce with Anthropic?
On 3 September 2026 Skift reported that "Amadeus is working with Anthropic to make flight and destination content available inside Claude Code for developers and via a potential Claude Cowork plugin for travel professionals". It added: "Neither offering is generally available yet (a waitlist is open for the toolkit)" (Skift, 3 September 2026).
So there is no Amadeus MCP server from Amadeus that an agency can switch on today, and the announcement doesn't say whether a future one would run on your agency's own contract and fares.
What happened to the open-source Amadeus MCP servers?
Developers published several open-source Amadeus MCP servers on GitHub. Almost all of them used Amadeus Self-Service keys, because those were free and instant to get. Amadeus shut Self-Service down on 17 July 2026 and disabled every Self-Service key that day, so those servers stopped returning flights.

What can GateRoam's Amadeus MCP server do?
GateRoam runs the MCP server for you. Your colleagues connect Claude or ChatGPT to it, and their assistant gets these tools on your Amadeus contract:
| Tool | What the assistant can do |
|---|---|
| Search flights | One-way, return and multi-city, with flexible dates (±1–3 days) and nearby airports |
| Confirm prices | Ask Amadeus for the current price of the options you shortlisted |
| Fare families | Compare branded fares: baggage, changes and refunds |
| Seats per booking class | See how many seats are left in each class |
| Booking entries | Give the agent the Amadeus entries to build the booking by hand in the terminal |
| Client offers | Turn 1–3 options into a branded web page, copy-paste text and a PDF |
| Amadeus guide | Answer "how do I … in Amadeus" questions from step-by-step cards (no API keys needed) |
Every search comes back with the cheapest, the fastest and the best-value option already picked, and links to the same flights on Google Flights and Skyscanner so you can compare. Prices and totals are calculated in code, never guessed by the model.
What can't it do?
- It can't book, hold, ticket or cancel. Nothing in GateRoam can. The booking entries are for the agent to run; GateRoam never ends a transaction or issues a ticket.
- It doesn't sell fares. You need your own Amadeus Enterprise or Quick Connect contract. GateRoam uses your keys and your fares, and any Amadeus fees stay between your agency and Amadeus.
- It can't use more than your contract allows. GateRoam tests your keys and shows which Amadeus APIs your contract includes. A tool whose API isn't on the contract is not offered to the assistant.
- It doesn't work with Self-Service keys. Those were disabled on 17 July 2026.
What do you need to use it?
- An Amadeus Enterprise or Quick Connect contract. Ask your local Amadeus office if you don't have one.
- Claude or ChatGPT. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, including Free; ChatGPT needs a plan with developer mode.
- A free GateRoam account for your agency. No card needed.

Why not build your own Amadeus MCP server?
You can, if you have developers. A server an agency can rely on has to run on the internet (Claude and ChatGPT connect from their own servers), sign each colleague in with OAuth, keep the Amadeus keys away from the chat, limit what the AI may do, keep prices exact, and turn results into something a client can read. GateRoam does all of that, and it's free during early access.
