Best AI tools for travel agents in 2026

An honest list of AI tools for travel agents in 2026, by job: writing, flight quotes on your own GDS, hotels, itineraries and CRM, and AI booking agents.
By Tine D. Updated

There is no single best AI tool for travel agents: there's a best tool for each job. For writing, a general assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Microsoft 365 Copilot. For live flight quotes, a tool that connects that assistant to your own GDS contract. For itineraries and client records, an advisor platform with AI built in. Below are the tools worth knowing in October 2026, grouped by job, each described from its own pages with a link.

GateRoam is our product. It has one entry, in the group where it belongs, with what it does and what it doesn't.

General AI assistants: writing, reading and research

Every agent should have one of these. They draft client emails, turn notes into itineraries, translate, and explain fare rules or visa rules in plain words (check the official source). None of them can see your GDS fares on its own, but all four can now use outside tools:

  • ChatGPT can add custom MCP servers as plugins, and OpenAI notes that "Account and workspace policies apply to adding and using custom MCP servers" (OpenAI). More: ChatGPT for travel agents.
  • Claude has custom connectors on every plan, including Free (one connector), and Projects for your agency's house style and supplier notes (Claude help center). More: Claude for travel agents.
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot reaches outside systems through agents built in Copilot Studio: "There are two ways to connect your agent to an MCP server in Copilot Studio" (Microsoft Learn). The right choice if your agency already works in Outlook and Teams.
  • Google Gemini can connect custom apps too, but for now only on a personal Google account, in the US, in English: "this feature isn't available if you sign in with a work or school Google Account" (Gemini Apps Help).

Flight quotes and bookings on your own GDS contract

This is the gap most "best AI tools" lists skip. A plain chat answers from public web pages, not from your office's fares. These tools put your own GDS contract behind the assistant or the email inbox:

  • GateRoam (ours) is an MCP server for Amadeus and Travelport+ (Galileo). In Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft 365 Copilot, agents search and price flights on the agency's own Amadeus Enterprise or Quick Connect keys (classic and Amadeus NDC fares) or its own Travelport TripServices access, compare fare families and seats, and turn the picks into a branded client offer (web page and PDF). An agency with both systems gets one search across the two. It also prices trips as separate tickets when that's cheaper, and answers "how do I … in Amadeus?" or "… in Galileo?" from its Amadeus guide and Galileo guide. It also holds bookings in Amadeus and Travelport+: a colleague holds the option the client picked from the app, or the AI after the agent's yes, once an admin has switched holding on. Free during early access. How it connects · Travelport+ (Galileo).
  • TTS WebAgent AI Assistant. TTS WebAgent is a booking tool "only available to travel agents who use Travelport GDS" (TTS). Its AI assistant reads client emails and prepares the quote or reply, and TTS says "Nothing is booked, ticketed or canceled without agent approval" (TTS). On 11 October 2026 the product page marked it "Soon", as part of TTS's Agent Suite, so ask TTS when it's available.
  • Amadeus Cowork plugin for Claude. Announced by Amadeus and Anthropic on 3 September 2026, with a waitlist for the developer toolkit and no date or terms for the plugin yet. The details: Amadeus and Anthropic: what agencies can use in Claude now.

Hotels and packages in your AI assistant

  • TBO Connectors bring TBO's hotel inventory into Claude and ChatGPT: "TBO returns live hotels, rates, and availability", and "Pick a hotel, the quote's already built. Send it to your client" (TBO). You sign in with your TBO login. The page covers hotels, not flights, and doesn't say whether you can book from the chat.

Itineraries, proposals and client records

Advisor platforms with AI built in. They work on your trips and your clients, not on live fares:

  • Tern "monitors incoming email from clients and top suppliers", drafts replies "in your voice" and builds itineraries by chat; "Nothing sends until you review and approve", and "AI features are included in the base plan with basic usage" (Tern). Tern's AI can also submit bookings to your agency (Tern help center).
  • TravelJoy: "Itinerary Copilot turns your trip notes into polished, professional itinerary drafts", and its Magic Importer reads uploaded documents (TravelJoy). 7-day free trial.
  • Travefy lets you "Import bookings, info, photos, and more in seconds with the power of A.I." (Travefy). 10-day free trial.
  • Safari Portal, for tour operators, DMCs and advisors, drafts property pages, area descriptions and itinerary introductions with AI (Safari Portal).
  • TobyAI is a writing assistant that Travel Leaders Network rolled out to its advisors in December 2023, for itineraries, agent bios, client emails and social posts (TravelPulse).

AI booking agents you'll hear about

These come up in the same searches, but they are built for companies or travellers, not for an agency quoting on its own contract:

  • Travel Code is a corporate travel platform with a hosted MCP server: "Search for flights, hotels, and manage bookings with AI", in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor and others (Travel Code). It works on Travel Code's own platform and content, not on an agency's GDS contract.
  • LetsFG lets travellers search and book flights and hotels from their own AI assistant. "Your AI can't book on its own": LetsFG emails the traveller the flight and price with an Approve button, and "Searching is free" (LetsFG).
  • Lambus has an AI connector that "can update your Lambus trips as you chat", in ChatGPT (marked experimental), Claude and Gemini (Lambus). It plans trips; it doesn't quote fares.

What the GDSs are building

All three GDSs are moving to MCP, the standard the tools above use to talk to AI assistants:

  • Sabre launched its MCP server in September 2025 and counts "nearly 80 customers both piloting and in full production mode", including Flight Centre and Internova; "Sabre MCP is powering apps live inside ChatGPT and Claude today" (Sabre, 20 September 2026). It is a building block for travel companies and their developers, not a connector an agent installs.
  • Amadeus is working with Anthropic on a Claude Code toolkit and a Claude Cowork plugin, both not generally available yet (Amadeus, 3 September 2026).
  • Travelport is rebuilding its Trip Services with Cognizant and Anthropic's Claude, "with the MCP-based interface layer above it"; "The first customer-facing capabilities are expected to reach market this year" (Travelport, 27 May 2026).

How to choose

Four questions sort almost any AI tool:

  1. Whose prices does it show? Your own GDS contract, the vendor's content, or public web prices. Only the first gives you fares you can actually ticket.
  2. Who calculates the numbers? Totals and travel times should come from the supplier or from code, never from the language model.
  3. What can it change, and who can do it? Writing tools change nothing. For a booking tool, check who in your agency can book and whether every booking is logged.
  4. Which assistant does your team already use? A tool that works in Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot lets each colleague keep their own.
