When
An entry or a response contains a sign you do not recognise, or you want to know how one character changes what an entry does.
What they mean
| Symbol | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
> | Start of message (SOM): your entry goes after it. | — |
@ | Change or delete — mostly booking file fields and segments. | @2/Q moves segment 2 to class Q |
* | At the start of an entry: display (part of) the booking file. Later in an entry: free text often follows. In a response: usually "accepted". | *R shows the whole booking file |
+ | Joins two entries into one. | X2+N1Y3 cancels segment 2 and sells class Y on line 3 |
; | Joins several search requests in one entry; each answer opens in its own window. | — |
# | At the start: a Smartpoint shortcut. Inside an entry: often marks an airport or a time. | #RESTART · A20NOVLJUFRA.1400# (flights from 14:00 on) |
)> | There is more below. | MD scrolls; Alt+C opens everything |
Check it worked
A lone * after your entry usually means it was taken; an error text means it was not (Common Galileo responses and what they mean).
Traps
@changes or deletes. One wrong segment or line number and you change the wrong thing — display first, then change.#means one thing at the start of an entry and another inside it.)>is easy to miss; the line that matters can be on the next page.
