The fare calculation line, part by part
Each system prints the same line under a priced fare and on the ticket: Amadeus in the TQT and FQQ, Galileo in the FQ and *FF, Sabre in WP and *PQ.

| LJU LH FRA | A city, then each airline and the city it flies to. Cities can be airport or city codes (NYC, LON). |
| X/FRA | A connection: the passenger changes planes in Frankfurt with no stopover. |
| FRA (no X/) | A stopover: on most international fares the passenger stays more than 24 hours before flying on. |
| 475.00 | The amount of a fare component, in NUC. It closes the component: the cities before it, from the last amount, are one fare. |
| 475.00YSAVER | Some systems write the fare basis straight after the amount. |
| Q25.00 | A surcharge added to the fare component. Q LASCMB25.00 names the city pair it is for. |
| M | The component is priced by mileage (M432.50, or M LITMIL293.30 with the city pair). |
| 5M · 10M · 25M | An excess mileage surcharge of 5, 10 or 25 percent: the route is longer than the fare allows. Already in the amount. |
| S100.00 · 2S200.00 | A stopover charge: one or two stopovers, added to the total. |
| E/ | An extra mileage point: a city that adds miles to the route (E/XXX when no city is named). |
| /- | A surface sector the passenger does not fly and the fare does not pay for (they travel by land). |

| ( … ) | A side trip: a trip out and back from a city of the journey, priced on its own. |
| NUC950.00 | The total in NUC (neutral units of construction). Components, Q and S add up to it. |
| JPY21429 | A total in local currency, for fares built in that currency instead of NUC. |
| PLUS40.00 | A markup after the total, outside the NUC sum. |
| END | The end of the fare calculation. |
| ROE0.854737 | The IATA rate of exchange: NUC × ROE is the fare in the currency of the country where the journey starts. |
| XF · ZP | After END, on US journeys: XF lists the airport charges (passenger facility charges) by airport, ZP the airports of the US segment tax. |
| M/IT · M/BT | The amount is hidden: an inclusive tour (IT) or bulk (BT) fare. |
