When
A connection via an unusual city prices higher than the direct fare, or the fare calculation shows
a mileage surcharge (M, 5M…).
What it is
A fare is valid on the routing the airline allows — either a specified routing (listed cities) or mileage: the sum of ticketed point mileages (TPM) must stay under the maximum permitted mileage (MPM); above it a surcharge in steps of 5% applies.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | FQMZRHLONFRASYD | Mileage for the routing. | Is the path too long? |
| 2 | FQOFRASYD | TPM and MPM for all global routes between two cities. | The allowance. |
| 3 | FRM/S4-6 · FRM1 | Mileage from PNR segments · from fare display line 1. | Check your booking. |
| 4 | FQM*/9126 | Surcharge band for a mileage. | How much extra. |
| 5 | FQR2 · FQN1*RG | Fare routing of line 2 · routing rule of fare 1. | Specified routings. |
Traps
- A cheaper-looking connection can price higher because it breaks the fare's routing — compare with
FQRbefore promising. - Routing rules are per airline and fare; they are not checked in availability.
