When
You see a PNR in the graphic booking file and a colleague tells you to "type it in cryptic", or the reverse — and you want to know when each is the better tool.
What it is
Amadeus Selling Platform Connect gives two views of the same system:
- Cryptic — the command page: you type entries (
AN,SS,NM,FXP,TTP…) and read text answers. Fast, exact, and what this guide uses. - Graphic — the booking file: sections, buttons and dialogs (Products, Passengers, Stored fares, E-Ticket and EMD…). Easier to see the whole booking at once, and some tasks (seat map, refunds of several tickets) are comfortable there.
Both change the same record: a change in one shows in the other.
Steps (switching)
- In an open booking file, use the Command page button on its toolbar — the same PNR appears as cryptic text.
- To go back, click the Booking file icon.
- In the booking file, Cryptic display (Booking file information section) also shows the cryptic PNR without leaving the graphic view.
Why learn cryptic anyway
- Every entry in this guide works in the command page, the same in live and in training.
- Error messages come back as text you can paste into your AI assistant or
HE/.
Traps
- Saving is the same action in both: the graphic Save (ER) button is the
ERentry. Ignore isIGfor a new record andIRfor an existing one. - Do not mix half a change in graphic with half in cryptic and then ignore — you undo both.
