When
You try to cancel, rebook or price one flight of a connection and Amadeus refuses, or a connection shows seats that the single flights do not.
What it is
Airlines with Access Sell can marry connecting segments: they are sold, priced and ticketed as one unit. The airline gives seats to the whole connection (long-haul journeys) and blocks the trick of booking a connection just to get availability and then dropping one leg. You cannot see the marriage in the availability display.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | look at the PNR header | --- MSC --- means the PNR contains married segments. | First sign. |
| 2 | RTAM | Air segments with married-segment indicators. | Which segments belong together. |
| 3 | RHAM | Married-segment events in the history. | When they were married. |
Indicators: M pre-married (online connection or origin/destination), T traffic
restriction, A/B received from the airline, R set manually by an airline control office.
Traps
FXX/S2on one married leg → "PRICING REQUEST REJECTED DUE TO MARRIED SEGMENT CONTROL". Price the whole connection.- To change one leg, rebook the whole connection (cancel both and sell the new connection in one entry) — or ask the airline.
- Only the airline (or some Amadeus supervisors) can divorce segments.
