When
The client wants a seat the airline charges for (extra legroom, front rows, "preferred" seats).
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | FXP (ticket priced first) | The ticket fare must be priced before selling a paid seat. | |
| 2 | SM2 | Seat map of segment 2; Y marks chargeable seats. | See what costs extra. |
| 3 | ST/30C/S2 | Requests seat 30C on segment 2. | Creates a chargeable /SSR RQST. |
| 4 | RTSTR | Seat characteristics of the reserved seats ("PREF.SEAT, CHARGEABLE"). | Confirm it is chargeable. |
| 5 | FXG · FXG/L6-7 | Prices the chargeable seat SSRs → TSM-P (RFIC A, RFISC 0B5). | Store the price. |
| 6 | TMI/M1/FP-CASH | Form of payment on the TSM. | Required. |
| 7 | TTP/T1/TTM/M1 | Issues ticket and seat EMD together (or TTP first, then TTM/M1). | EMD-A associates to the ticket coupons. |
| 8 | EWD / TWD | EMD shows ICW ticket coupons; the ticket shows "IN CONNECTION WITH" the EMD. | Check the link. |

Traps
- Airline deadline: the PNR may carry an option "requires document on or before …" — without the EMD the seat is cancelled.
- Several passengers: all seats may sit under one SSR element — check the association.
- Paid seats are usually non-refundable (the TSM shows NON REFUNDABLE / NON EXCHANGEABLE).
