How do I book a paid seat in Amadeus?

Price the ticket (FXP), pick the seat (SM2, then ST/30C/S2), price the chargeable seat with FXG, add the form of payment with TMI and issue with the ticket: TTP/T1/TTM/M1. Without the EMD the airline releases the seat.

When

The seat the client wants is marked chargeable (Y in the cryptic map, a price in the graphic map).

Steps

  1. Price the ticket (FXP).
  2. Choose the seat: SM2, ST/30C/S2 (or click it in the graphic map).
  3. Price the chargeable seat: FXG (creates the TSM-P).
  4. Add the form of payment: TMI/M1/FP-….
  5. Issue with the ticket: TTP/T1/TTM/M1.

The full walkthrough with checks and traps is the EMD card Paid seat on an EMD-A.

Why it matters

Without the EMD, the airline treats the seat as unpaid and releases it — often with an automatic deadline in the PNR ("requires document on or before …").

Traps

  • Seat prices can differ per passenger (e.g. discounts for status) — check each.
  • Many fare families include seat selection; check before charging the client for a seat.
