When
An airline wants a flight reconfirmed, a flight booked outside Amadeus must be cancelled through your PNR, or the client flies an airline that does not take part in Amadeus.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3/RR | Reconfirms segment 3 (booked in Amadeus). | The airline asks for reconfirmation. |
| 2 | SSLH1455Y20OCTLJUFRARR1 | Long sell with status RR: reconfirms a flight booked outside Amadeus. | Keep the PNR in step with a booking made elsewhere. |
| 3 | SSLH1455Y20OCTLJUFRAIX1 | Long sell with status IX: asks the airline to cancel a flight booked outside Amadeus. | Cancel through your PNR. |
| 4 | SSXX123Y20OCTLJUSPUNN1/08001000 | Requests a seat (NN) on an airline that is not in Amadeus, with your own times. | Amadeus has no schedule for that airline. |
| 5 | RTA | Shows the segments with their statuses. | Follow the airline's answer. |
Check it worked
The segment shows the status you sent; the airline's answer changes it later (for example to HK or UN) —
check RTA and your queues (Handling an airline schedule change (TK, UN segments)).
Traps
- A request to a non-participating airline is only a request until the airline confirms it — tell the client nothing is held before then.
- For a booking made elsewhere that only needs to appear on the itinerary, a passive segment is the usual way (Passive, ghost, information and open segments — and why passive segments are risky).
- Status codes and what each one means: Segment status codes and what to do with each.
