When
You start working in an Amadeus office and need to know where airline changes, ticketing reminders and messages arrive.
What it is
A queue is an inbox of PNRs (or messages) that need action. Every office has its own queue bank: queues numbered 1-99, each split into categories 0-254, some also into four date ranges. Travel agencies get 16 predefined queues. Airlines, hotels, car companies and Amadeus put PNRs there automatically when:
- a flight's status or schedule changes, or a waitlist clears;
- the ticketing time limit you set arrives (your
TKTL) or expires; - an option (
OP) date comes; - the responsible office changes, or information is missing.
Useful to know: the ticketing time limit places PNRs on queue 8 (TKTL…/C20 places
them on queue 8 category 20), expired items can move from queue 8 to queue 12 (QVU/Q12), and
free-text messages go to message queue 97.
Why it matters
A queue only helps if someone works it. Unworked schedule changes become missed flights; unworked ticketing reminders become cancelled seats.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | QT | Total count of the office's queues, by category. | What is waiting. |
| 2 | QS8 | Starts working queue 8 (default category). | See Working a queue — start, act, next, delay, exit (QS, QN, QD, QI, QF). |

Traps
- Agree in the team who works which queue every day — otherwise nobody does.
