When
A ticket is already issued and the client cancels or changes something. Pick the right tool before touching the booking.
Check first
TWD (coupon statuses, issue date) and FQN…*PE / FQN…*VC (the fare's change and refund rules).
The decision
| Situation | Tool | Amadeus | Card |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cancel or wrong ticket, issued today (before midnight) | Void | TRDC | Void an e-ticket issued today |
| Cancel, issued before today, open coupons | Refund (full or partial, penalty per rules) | TRF | Full automated refund (TRF), Partial refund — the refund record, used coupons, taxes and penalty |
Same fare; other flight number, date or time (same cities); status O/A | Revalidation — same ticket | TTP/ETRV | Revalidation — same fare, changed flight or date, no new ticket |
| New date / flight / class / routing with a fare difference or penalty | Reissue (exchange) — new ticket | FXQ + TTP (ATC) or manual | Voluntary change and reissue with Amadeus Ticket Changer (FXQ, TTP) |
| Airline changed or cancelled the flight | Involuntary reissue or refund | FXI | Involuntary reissue after an airline schedule change (FXI) |
| Airline wants its change fee separately | EMD for the fee | TTM | Airline change fee collected on an EMD |
Revalidation is only possible when the fare stays the same and the change is a flight number, date, time, airport in the same city or (if allowed) airline in the same group.
Traps
- Change the booking and the ticket together: rebooking alone leaves the ticket on the old flight.
- A void after midnight is not possible — then it is a refund, billed and credited by BSP in different weeks.
- Always check coupon statuses: only open (
O) coupons can be refunded or exchanged by the agency.
