When
Use this card when you have finished a booking or a change and want to save it, or when you only looked or made a mistake and want to throw the unsaved work away.
Steps
| # | Entry | What it does | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ER | Ends the transaction and shows the booking file again. | The normal save: you see the result and the locator. |
| 2 | E or ET | Ends without showing the file. | Save and move on. |
| 3 | EL | Ends and goes back to the name list you came from. | Working through a list of similar names. |
| 4 | ERM | Ends, shows the file and emails the itinerary. | Saves a step when the client is waiting (Email the itinerary (EM, ERM, ERMALL)). |
| 5 | QEB/43 | Ends and places the file on queue 43. | Hands it to a colleague or a later task (Place a booking file on a queue — now or on a future date). |
| 6 | I | Ignores: drops everything since the last save. | The safe exit when you only wanted to look. A new file disappears completely. |
| 7 | IR | Ignores and shows the last saved version. | Undo your changes but keep the file open. |
| 8 | IALL | Ignores the booking file and the client file moved into it. | Start again from nothing. |
Check it worked
After ER the file is shown with its record locator. After IR, *R shows the file exactly as it was at the last save; after I on a new file, it is gone.
Traps
- Ending is what sends your work out. Cancellations, SSRs, names and contact data go to the airlines when you end. If you were only trying entries, finish with
I. - Some things work only before the first save: linking a lap infant to an adult (
SI.P4/INFT-P2), changing the number of seats on a sold segment, changing a group name, and the airline OSIs that extend a ticketing deadline. Get them right first. - You cannot sign off with an unfinished booking file open. End it or ignore it first (Sign on, sign off and change your password).
QEB/ends the transaction too — do not typeERafter it expecting to fix something.- Without autoreceive, an end without
R.is refused (Received from field and autoreceive). - Cancelled the whole itinerary (
XI) by mistake?IRbrings it back, as long as you have not ended.
